Past
Growing up, I always planned on going to college somewhere far away from Cincinnati. I grew up in a suburb twenty minutes from downtown and UC so I never even looked at University of Cincinnati as an option until my parents (both UC alum) said I should go on a tour. Safe to say, I fell in love with UC and all of its incredible opportunities and applied as soon as I got home from the tour. I love watching the renaissance of the city and the campus. I am probably the biggest fan of Cincinnati and UC and will talk about all of its greatness for hours on end if someone would let me. As my first year comes to an end, I can easily say I have learned to truly appreciate the Queen City and UC and cannot wait for the rest of my career here. My second year has drawn to a close just as quickly as the first year did but I can say that the second was just as wonderful if not better than my first year at UC and I know that my years here will continue to get better. In a blink of an eye, my third year as a bearcat is over. I can't believe I'm already a senior! I am so nervous/excited for the future but amazed at how fast time has flown by.
Present
I absolutely love being a bearcat at the University of Cincinnati. Even after being here for only two years, it is incredibly difficult to describe and summarize everything I have done at UC. UC has allowed me to make remarkable friends and a support group, visit the Amazon Rainforest in Brazil (I still find this surreal), and create multiple professional relationships through networking and involvement on campus. Helping others is something that I truly value and at UC I have been able to execute this by being an Honors Ambassador for UHP. At the end of last year, I wrote how I wanted to get more involved on campus. I stepped out of my comfort zone and did just that! I became an ambassador for A&S and worked as a peer tutor at the Learning Commons. Additionally, I formed an organization that works alongside of Women Helping Women to promote the advocate services we have on campus. I have decided to pursue a law degree so this summer will involve loads of studying for the LSAT and an internship with a senator at his Cincinnati office. I look forward to learning the inner workings of a senator's office and our government.
Future
As for the future, my current trajectory is towards a law degree in human rights or environmental law. Both are passions for me and I plan on waiting till I have my first year of law school under my belt to make any decisions for my career path. I will graduate and walk in the spring because I want to be able to walk with my sister who will be graduating early but I'll only be taking one class in the spring. Current plans include taking a year off after graduation either pursuing a Fulbright or joining the Peace Corps and then to attend law school. Either teaching abroad for a year or joining the Peace Corps are current trajectories I am pursuing. I am looking forward to enjoying my last year as a bearcat but I still can't believe that it is already here. I truly have had the best 3 years of my life so far and I plan on making the last one the best one yet.
